My brilliant playmates tend to be:
Creative: You may or may not call yourself creative. Your creativity may have been suppressed or blocked or under-expressed for some time. You may be a full-time professional artist or you may consider yourself a dabbler or not even know how your creativity wants to express yet, but you know you want to explore your imagination and express your authentic Self. You may have passionately pursued one or more art forms when you were younger and got stopped along the way by someone, by life, or often by a college program or a workshop. You probably have an artistic sensibility, an aesthetic sense, and enjoy the arts and/or crafts, like creating things, making spaces beautiful or expressing your imagination in various ways. (Hint: Everyone is creative.)
“Imagination is more important than knowledge” —Albert Einstein
Heart-centered: You are an emotionally alive being, who feels deeply and values the wise promptings of the heart, even if it’s become hard for you to hear those promptings or trust them. You know there’s more to life than living it from a safe, rational, intellectual standpoint. You want the juiciness, richness and aliveness of the heart, even though it’s messy and scary at times.
“I am certain of nothing but of the holiness of the Heart’s affections and the truth of Imagination.” — John Keats
Sensitive and Intuitive: You may have been told all your life that “you’re too sensitive,” or you may have hidden your innate sensitivity under various kinds of covers. You feel things deeply, you know things intuitively, you are guided by deep inner currents.
Soul-centered, spirited: You recognize an underlying spiritual source to life, a sacredness, a livingness, a connectedness that you may call God, or Nature, or Spirit or you may not call it anything, but it matters to you. You are probably very wary of dogma, but you yearn for a deep connection to a sense of something larger than yourself on your own terms. You sense you have a soul, an essential Self that is bigger than your personality and history, a part of you that calls you to big dreams and vivid experiences.
Unconventional: though parts of your life may look very conventional, often these are the parts where you may be the least happy (such as in your job). At the core, simply working 9-to-5 and having a 2-car garage is not going to be enough for you. You not content to settle for the status quo, the “American Dream,” the lies that the media and advertising tell us. You want deeper meaning and more passion and joy.
Interesting: You have done a lot of interesting things in your life, had adventures, perhaps big challenges, and unique experiences. You may have accomplished many wonderful things and now are ready for the next chapter, either because you’ve come to a rut or simply a transition point. Maybe you are finally ready to make more time for what you love or you know there’s more to life than what you are currently living. Maybe you are curious to see what might be there if you listen to your heart and soul more deeply, to the part of you that wants to be more creative, playful, inspired, alive.
Does this sound like you? Then you are in the right place. Welcome.
{Although these people look like children, they are really what you might feel like when you are engaged in one of my programs and doing what you love.}
